Sellers sell a 30 x 12 as 12 ft wide by 30 ft long. Alan's Factory Outlet lists its 12 by 30 regular carport as 12 ft wide by 30 ft long. It says the 360 square feet suit a vehicle or RV. Keen's Buildings and Get Carports print the same footprint. The area is 12 ft times 30 ft, or 360 square feet. In meters that is 3.66 by 9.14 m and 33.4 square meters, at 0.09290304 square meters per square foot.
A 12x30 covers 1.8 times the 200 sq ft line in the 2021 IRC R105.2, so confirm the permit rule with your local building department.
Is a 30 x 12 carport the same as a 12x30?
Both name the same 360 square feet. On October 6, 2026 Google answered "30x12 carport" with 12x30 listings. One result carried the note "Missing: 30x12", so its page lists the size as 12x30. A carport 30 ft wide and 12 ft deep is a different place to park. It has three bays across and only 144 inches of depth. Of the 15 cars, trucks and vans measured for the 12x12 page, 3 are 144 inches or shorter. A 2025 Camry is 194 inches, 50 over. Ask a seller which side is the width, because a quote for 30x12 can mean either.
