Write for Us

Published and maintained by the CarportBay Editorial Team. Last updated .

CarportBay occasionally publishes guest contributions from people with real, specific experience: installers, contractors, structural engineers, code officials, and homeowners who have gone through a real project and can write about it concretely. We are not looking for generic, surface-level content or writing produced primarily to secure a backlink.

What We're Looking For

Pitches should fit into one of the subject areas CarportBay is already organized around:

We also cover a set of adjacent topic types across the site, and a strong pitch can sit in one of these instead of one of the five main topics:

  • Local/Geo-Targeted
  • Permits/Regulations
  • Accessory/Parts
  • Combo/Adjacent Structure
  • Definitional/Informational
  • Rental

Carports sit inside the broader home improvement category, so we'll also look at strong pitches on adjacent home improvement topics, especially where they connect back to outdoor structures or vehicle and equipment storage:

  • Garages, garage organization, and garage conversions
  • Driveways, paving, and concrete work
  • Sheds and outdoor storage buildings
  • Decks, patios, and outdoor living spaces
  • Fencing and property perimeter structures
  • Roofing, siding, and home exterior upkeep
  • General home improvement buying guides and project planning

The strongest pitches are specific: a real project, a real permitting experience in a named jurisdiction, a real installation detail, rather than a broad overview of "things to know before buying a carport."

What We Don't Accept

  • Content written primarily to place a link back to a commercial site.
  • Manufacturer or dealer promotional copy. CarportBay compares manufacturers independently and does not publish content favoring one.
  • AI-generated drafts submitted as finished, unreviewed work.
  • Previously published content, or content being pitched to other sites at the same time.
  • Pricing, code, or permit claims that cannot be backed by a named, checkable source.

How Compensation and Terms Work

CarportBay does not post a fixed contributor fee, rate card, or paid-placement price on this page, and there is no self-serve checkout. Every pitch is reviewed individually, and if we want to move forward, compensation and terms (if any apply to that piece) are worked out by email with the editorial team before anything is written or published. Submitting the form below does not commit either side to anything.

Link Policy

A guest contribution may include a short author bio with a link to the contributor's own site or professional profile. Any link included as part of a business relationship rather than pure editorial attribution is marked with a rel="sponsored" attribute per Google's guidance on paid and relationship-based links, and disclosed in the piece itself consistent with FTC guidance on material connections. Links are never sold as part of a guest post, and we do not accept pitches submitted on the condition that a specific anchor text or destination be used in the body of the piece. For advertising rather than a guest piece, see Advertise With Us.

Editorial Review

Accepted pieces go through the same review the rest of CarportBay's content does: fact and source verification, a manufacturer-neutrality check, and a copy edit. See our Our Team page for the full workflow. Published guest content carries the contributor's own byline rather than the CarportBay Editorial Team byline, with a short credential line explaining why that person is positioned to write it. Contributors must own what they submit; copyright concerns follow our DMCA / Copyright Policy.
